Sewing Weekend Away – it’s nearly here!

elizabeth's_avatarThe lovely proprietors of Moondyne Convention Centre, Christine and Peter, are delighted we want to come back! They’re busy, but they’ve managed to squeeze us in between their scary corporate clients.

Come up on Friday night (8 November) after work and go home Sunday (10 November) after a couple of days of concentrated sewing. Elle will take care of the catering again, with a roster of sous chefs and kitchen fairies.

Accommodation is $50 a night (so $100 for the weekend) and all your food will be another $50, so $150 for an entire, catered weekend. It’s the best value holiday you’ll ever have, and THERE’S SEWING!

If you came along last time, you’ll know the rooms are warm and comfortable with ensuites, the views are divine, and there’s a dedicated conference room where we can set up our machines and cutting out and not have to pack it up each night.

So far seven of us have RSVPed – so if you haven’t, you need to pay, and if you want to be part of the fun, there are eight places left…

  1. Hello HR I am the State Liaison person for the Australian Sewing Guild. I have been receiving your newsletters and blogs and this all sounds like a great deal of fun, when is the weekend away? Can I come Jude Ewen

  2. Hi Jude – good point, I’ve updated the post to show the dates. We run our calendar of events from the BSC meetup site (to the top left, the logo with the pink button) which is where you join. There is still room for the weekend, and you are most welcome.

  3. Hi Elizabeth – I’m a novice garment sewer and would really love to find a regular group to meet with to enhance my skills and learn from more experienced garment makers. Are you soliciting members for your group? I’m not new to sewing in general and have 7 sewing machines (LOL). I just haven’t focused on making clothing much and would really love to enhance my skills in that area. Can you give me any information about your meetings and if I can attend one? I live south of the river in Perth. Thanks.

    • Hello McKenna – you would be most welcome at our monthly meets. If you have a look at the top right of the page, there’s a pink logo for BSC with a button, that’s a link to our meetup page, which is where we run the show. Join us and RSVP to an event and one of us will be in touch to send you details. We’re also on facebook as bscperthwa. We don’t have a regular meeting place, deciding from month to month where we’ll meet, usually a member’s house. Everything (at this stage) is free, just bring along your machine and a project and perhaps a plate of something yummy to share.

  4. You might find us on Facebook a bit more easily if you look for BurdaStyle Sewing Club Perth WA, lol. We went with something concise for the webpage and precise for the Facebook page.
